Why Didn’t Anyone Tell Me About TuneFind?

I love television and movies. The conflicts, drama, color schemes, and action shots: I look forward to it all. I also appreciate a good song to help set the mood.

I was watching The Leftovers tonight with The Man (DVR’d of course; we’re busy people) and a song came on that was eerily familiar and hauntingly different at the same time. I recognized those lyrics – “I’ve got chills, they’re multiplying. And I’m losing control…” but it wasn’t John Travolta’s high tenor. It was a much deeper, richer voice.
To Google! I searched ‘the leftovers you’re the one that I want’ and the first option was a site named TuneFind. Sweet day in the morning, I hit the jackpot. It’s a database of songs featured in 26,600 episodes and movies. Amazing!

Check out the website for all of those “what is this song” moments and listen to Lo-Fang do an outrageous rendition of “You’re The One That I Want”. Do you have any favorite covers? List them in the comments!

UPDATE 11OCT16: G and I have a new favorite show – Westworld. Originally a film written and directed by Michael Crichton, it is now a hit series on HBO. The series often features a player piano that is almost another character. In the first episode, it played a song that was oddly familiar, yet different when played on the tinny instrument. We figured this one out ourselves – “Black Hole Sun” – but some of the other ones were more difficult. TuneFind to the rescue!
